About

Greg Serebuoh has nearly two decades of experience as a teacher, tutor, vocal coach, and youth mentor and has worked with students of all ages, from elementary school children to adults. Over the course of his career, he has trained and consulted with learning specialists and educational psychologists to deepen his knowledge of the mind and provide personalized support to students with a broad range of learning styles. He has proudly watched his students overcome serious academic obstacles, manage learning differences, achieve top standardized test scores, and gain admission to some of the most competitive middle/high schools and universities.

Greg graduated from Yale University, where he double-majored in Music and Theater Studies and won the Alfred Bildner Prize for Achievement in Spanish. While at Yale, he served as musical director for the singing group Shades. He subsequently moved to Buenos Aires, Argentina, where he worked in arts and entertainment for four years before returning to the U.S. to continue his creative career. He has performed at MoMA, produced several multidisciplinary pieces, and screened his work at global film festivals including the New Orleans Film Festival, the Indie Memphis Film Festival, the San Francisco Dance Film Festival, and the Mexico City Videodance Festival.

Greg’s academic and creative backgrounds have a significant impact on his singular tutoring style. As a singer, filmmaker, and interdisciplinary artist, Greg has worked collaboratively and led artist collectives throughout his career. In that work, he learned to help others cultivate their unique strengths and greater self-knowledge while thoughtfully navigating their challenges in order to bring forth their best performances. He draws on the same skillset to guide his students.

Parents over the years consistently attest to Greg's ability to really understand what makes his students tick and tailor the work to each student’s unique characteristics. Whether preparing a student for a standardized test or providing support with difficult class work, he focuses on minimizing anxiety and uncertainty and maximizing precision by developing a highly methodical approach to learning and test taking. Through that work, his students grow as learners and gain a better understanding of their own thinking processes. Greg challenges his students to reach their highest potential while bringing compassion, structure, and a healthy dose of warmth and fun to each of his sessions.

What People Are Saying

“We could not have been happier with Greg as an ISEE tutor for my twins. Our first practice tests were very middle of the road, but over the course of our work with him, the scores of both my students improved dramatically, and they got into many of the top schools in NYC. Greg is friendly, but his professionalism signals to his students that they have to take the preparation seriously and put in the work. My twins also say he has a very clear way of explaining concepts and helping them understand the steps they need to take to improve. I have since recommended Greg to other families, and they feel the same as I do–we were very lucky to work with him.”

“Working with Greg was one of the best investments I made in improving my Spanish. I had been using Duolingo and Babbel but struggled with holding a spontaneous conversation. Greg was incredibly patient and thoughtful, his lessons were highly structured, and the homework he assigned reinforced what we covered in each session.

What set Greg apart was his ability to make learning engaging and relevant. He incorporated music, videos, and other authentic Spanish-language content into our lessons, which not only improved my listening comprehension but also helped me learn vocabulary and cultural nuances in a way that felt fun and memorable. This made every session productive but more importantly enjoyable!”
